Artist Statement
My current paintings negotiate the qualities of reproduced digital images such as video stills or photographs. Images are broken down and distorted the more times they are printed, scanned, re-sized or photo-copied. With each reproduction of the initial image, colours and edges of form are blended and vary in opacity which is translated as a painting technique. The lines between background and foreground are often blurred as they are both given the same attention to detail. This causes some of the spaces to abstract information while others remain more recognizable. I will continue exploring these techniques as they relate to a sense of place and specific locations.
